Professor Madjid Samii, Chairman of International Neuroscience Institute (INI) Visited TUOMS

Professor Madjid Samii (chairman of the International Neuroscience Institute (INI) and director of the Neurosurgical Center), Professor Amir Samii (vice-director of the Neurosurgical Center) and Professor Gerhard Franz Walter (dean of Clinical Fellowship/PhD Program of "Clinical Neurosciences" at INI) visited Tabriz University of Medical Sciences on 29 and 30 August, 2014. The aim of this visit was to find out the potentials for collaboration on neuroscience and stroke projects between INI and TUOMS. The detailed list of programs covered during this 2-day visit is as follows:

1.      Leading a conference with TUOMS neurosurgeons, professors and students

2.      Attending a charity institute and giving lecture

3.      Visiting Neurosurgery Ward of Imam Reza Hospital of Tabriz

4.      Holding a meeting with Neurosciences Research Center of TUOMS

5.      Signing a Memorandum of Understanding between INI and TUOMS

The signed contract included such academic programs as:

  •   Exchange of scholars and  researchers

  •   Development of student exchange programs

  •   Promotion of joint research projects

  •   Organization of joint academic conferences; seminars, symposiums and congresses

  •  Exchange of academic research data and teaching materials

 

In this great event the delegation also visited a number of local and provincial officials including the governor and the mayor of city and Professor Madjid Samii was awarded the medal of Tabriz Honorary Citizen. Meanwhile, they visited a number of sightseeing places including the ancient building of Tabriz Art College, Tabriz Municipality Palace, Azerbaijan Museum, Blue Mosque and Tabriz Historic Bazaar (the largest covered bazaar in the world and a UNESCO World Heritage Site).
